In march 2013 we met with our friends from Offroadpassport in Fountain Hills, AZ, to conquer Log Corral trail. I would like to say thank you to Diane (DZJeepChic), George (Number7) and Kris (Theksmith), that they took us on this outstanding trip and allowed us to use their pictures. Additionally Scott (ScottL) and J.R. have been with us on the trail.
From our meeting point at the Circle K gas station in Fountain Hills we drove on AZ-87 to the north.
At 12S 45453X 373959X (UTM/NAD27) we turned left on the trail:
Then we aired down and discussed the about the trail:
Then we started our run. We were crossing a creek for a few times…
…and soon we entered Log Corral Wash.
After some time we reached a short rock crawling section:
Here is the waterfal:
Then it was on me to go up there:
The following picture shows, that my front bumper was to wide and the uptravel was limited:
Then Scott followed:
And at he end our tailgunner George:
We continued in the wash:
After a while the trail got more mellow:
On the way up to some kind of pass we saw a short trail section, which allows one to test his ‘flex’. There is a bypass to the right.
A short time later, we arrived at the pass. We had a short break and enjoyed the view on Bartlett Reservoir in front of us.
That´s from where we came:
The following trail movie was taken on our way up to the pass:
Then we went down to Bartlett Reservoir:
On the way down, a short dead ended spur trail leads to the right. At the end of this spur trail one can find an old cowboy shack.
After we visited the shack, we continued on our way down to Bartlett Reservoir:
Down at Bartlett Reservoir we had our lunch break. This seems to be also a nice camping spot.
Our friends, taking their lunc:
And Moose likes to swim:
After lunch we headed back the way, we came in. Scott took this time the chance to test his suspension:
The following pictures have been taken, after we had been back in the wash:
My spotter Astrid in action:
The following movie shows George and Diane, gooing down the waterfal in Clifford:
After crossing the creek a few times, we had been back at our starting point.
We aired up, before we headed home via AZ-87:
Astrid found in the meantime a gila monster:
This trail was really a fun trail and I am happy, that our friends from Offroadpassport took us there. It is quite nice to get some experience in rock crawling. But one should have some experience, a suitable vehicle and, most important, some good friends with him/her.
