Moss Wash – The Hard Way, Kingman, AZ

While we drove this year (2017) “Moss Wash – The Easy Way“, we drove in march, 2015, with Wayne, Mike and Mike “Moss Wash – The Hard Way”. We already got warned by Wayne´s wife Gwen, that Lower Moss Wash is not really a friendly trail for wide rigs. We started in the morning with perfect weather and had an outstanding day. We stopped at the Mansion to have lunch and went out via a very scenic road to Hualapai Lodge.

After the pictures below, there are a couple of videos, too. They had been taken from three different obstacles.

We all met at the gas station at Blake Ranch exit, close to Kingman, AZ.
We followed a dirt road for a couple of miles.
Here we went right on a lesser trail.
We entered Lower Moss Wash.
The trail got more and more narrow.
The first rocky obstacles showed up...
...one after the next.
Wayne climbed all the obstacles very easy.
At one of the obstacles in a narrow section, I did not find a correct line. The rock below me always catched my diff.
After some time, fighting there, somebody said "What is all that liquid under your jeep ?". After a brief check, Wayne and Mike found out, that my hose on the low pressure side of the steering up popped off. After a quick fix and some spare powersteering fluid, I had with me, Wayne lined me up and I was able to climb over that obstacle.
Ongoing trail...
Mike, coming along...
...and climbing over an obstacle.
Now a pretty tippy obstacle, which was not as bad as it looks.
Wayne, making it look easy.
A short stretch of relaxation.
Easier part...

Minor obstacle...
...
One more obstacle waiting for us.
...
Tippy...
...but doable.
Soon the wash got wider.

Somehow I followed Wayne, without watching, what the others behind us were doing...
After I figured out, that they had no more been behind us, we stopped and walked a little bit back.
After some time, Mike showed up again. They told us, that they had some problem on one of the obstacles.
At this point, we had to go right to climb up to a better road further up.
No we had been on the way to the "Gold Mansion".
The trail was easier...
....
...and had some minor obstacles.
We had been following the wash...
...
...
...and partly there was a little bit of water.
Almost at the mansion.
At the Gold Mansion, we had our lunch stop and took some pictures.
Besides me, with my JKU, everybody else had a TJ.
The ongoing road after the mansion.
After finishing our lunch, we followed Moss Wash on an easy road.
Partly, the trail got more narrow.
Later, we climb up a road on a higher elevation level.
Climbing up...
We had incredible views from here.
There had been a lot of other trails around there.
Still going up...
...
...and down.
Mellow trail...
Sometimes, there was still snow around along the road.
Easy going...
Snow...
More snow...
...and wonderful weather.
Views...
...more views.
And again up...
...up...
...and down.
The road goes on for miles.
Outstanding views.
More snow in some shady areas.
Still a very nice and easy going trail.
Down we go...
Slowly, we came to the other side of the Hualapai Mountains.
Again incredible views.
View...

View...
Nice road...
...and snowy downhill slide.
What a view !
